Saudi Arabia Boosts Environmental and Water Projects in Tabuk

Saudi Arabia is actively pushing forward with major environmental and water projects in Tabuk to improve local living conditions and promote sustainability. Recently, Governor Prince Fahd bin Sultan inaugurated 23 projects valued at over SR3.8 billion (about $1 billion). Meanwhile, he also laid the groundwork for an additional 25 initiatives worth more than SR580 million. Together, these developments clearly show the government’s strong commitment to improving water resources and environmental care throughout the region.

The environmental and water projects in Tabuk primarily focus on enhancing water supply systems, building new infrastructure, and protecting natural ecosystems. Moreover, they closely align with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to boost sustainable development across the kingdom. Additionally, Prince Fahd expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their continuous support and praised the ministry staff for their dedication to public service and food security.

Minister Abdulrahman Al-Fadli detailed key components of these projects. For instance, small desalination plants along the western coast now produce more than 93,000 cubic meters of water daily. In addition, new water transmission systems can deliver 72,000 cubic meters each day to important areas such as Duba, Al-Wajh, and Umluj. Consequently, this infrastructure will ensure a steady and reliable water supply for local communities.

Furthermore, the National Water Company launched 16 initiatives valued at over SR860 million to expand drinking water and wastewater services in Tabuk. At the same time, the Saudi Water Partnership Company completed the Tabuk-2 Wastewater Treatment Plant. This facility, which cost around SR550 million, has a peak capacity of 135,000 cubic meters per day.

Beyond water infrastructure, the government also invested more than SR92 million in dam construction projects. Moreover, efforts to plant mangroves and protect rangelands received funding exceeding SR18 million. Finally, other activities include irrigation improvements, rural development, and increasing vegetation coverage throughout the region.

Overall, these environmental and water projects in Tabuk will significantly enhance water quality, strengthen ecosystems, and support sustainable growth. As Saudi Arabia advances these efforts, local residents gain better access to water and infrastructure. Ultimately, this progress ensures a brighter and healthier future for the Tabuk region.
