Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Japan held talks in Tokyo with former Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
The meeting in Tokyo focused on enhancing the long-standing partnership between Saudi Arabia and Japan, with both sides discussing ways to expand cooperation across political, economic and development sectors.
According to a statement shared by the Saudi Embassy on social media, the discussions explored opportunities to deepen collaboration under the framework of the Saudi-Japanese Strategic Partnership. The talks also highlighted shared interests in promoting stability and sustainable development.
Diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Tokyo have grown steadily in recent years, particularly in areas such as energy security, investment, and technology exchange, reflecting broader Gulf efforts to diversify international partnerships beyond traditional alliances.
The engagement comes amid continued high-level exchanges between officials from both countries, aimed at reinforcing strategic dialogue and identifying new areas of cooperation.
