SalamAir Expansion: 15th Aircraft Boosts Network Growth

SalamAir expansion takes a major step forward with the arrival of its 15th aircraft, an Airbus A321neo. Moreover, named Barr Al Hikman after Oman’s renowned coastal area, the plane highlights the airline’s commitment to connecting new destinations. Consequently, SalamAir expansion allows the airline to expand routes, increase seat capacity, and serve previously unserved markets.

Furthermore, Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Chairman of SalamAir, expressed pride in welcoming Barr Al Hikman. He emphasized that the aircraft supports Oman Vision 2040 by boosting tourism and strengthening economic diversification. Therefore, SalamAir expansion represents a strategic push to reach 25 aircraft by 2028, creating more travel opportunities and enhancing the national aviation sector.

In addition, the airline plans to use the new aircraft to launch additional services to several countries. New destinations include Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Medan in Indonesia. It will also increase frequencies to Nairobi, resume flights to Beirut, and expand routes within Saudi Arabia, particularly to Abha. These efforts reflect SalamAir expansion, which aims to provide more options for travelers across the region.

Meanwhile, Adrian Hamilton-Manns, Chief Executive Officer, explained that the aircraft will allow the airline to develop new routes and increase flights to high-demand locations. The planned Salalah base, hosting two to three aircraft, will stimulate tourism in Dhofar and support year-round travel growth. Thus, SalamAir expansion ensures better access to Omani cities while strengthening regional connectivity.

Additionally, the airline’s domestic fares, starting from OMR 9.99, have encouraged new travel demand. By offering competitive prices, SalamAir expansion has transformed the airline into a leading low-cost carrier in the region. Over the next year, the company expects to increase its workforce by 24 percent, adding 182 jobs and supporting Oman’s broader economy.

Moreover, SalamAir expansion reflects the airline’s dedication to public-private collaboration. Officials stress that coordinated growth with other local airlines can further develop the national aviation industry. By improving connectivity, boosting tourism, and creating employment opportunities, the airline positions Oman as a regional hub.

Overall, SalamAir expansion through its 15th aircraft strengthens Oman’s route network, supports Vision 2040 goals, and enhances travel opportunities. Therefore, the airline continues to provide affordable flights while fostering tourism and economic growth across the Sultanate.
