Qatar’s Ministry of Labour reports strong Q2 2025 growth in digital services and on-ground inspections, reflecting expanded efforts to improve labor market operations. The second quarter statistics reveal significant increases in work permit processing, contract authentication, and regulatory enforcement.
The Work Permits Department processed a total of 1,598,159 requests during the second quarter. Over 1,012,750 of thesewere renewals of general work permits. In addition, the department handled 71,310 new establishment registrations and 73,216 special work permit applications, marking robust administrative performance.
Meanwhile, the Labour Disputes Department received 1,844 complaints from workers against their employers. It resolved 3,358 cases, showcasing efficiency in mediation and support. The department also referred 1,593 unresolved cases to the Labour Disputes Resolution Committees, which issued 1,484 official decisions.
On the enforcement side, the Labour Inspection Department conducted 8,947 field visits. These visits led to 595 warnings for violations and 723 formal reports against non-compliant companies, mainly linked to the Wage Protection System. Furthermore, inspectors conducted 730 visits to recruitment offices to verify compliance.
Contract processing remained a high priority. The Labour Relations Department handled 156,641 labour contract authentication requests, helping formalize employment relationships across sectors.
Additionally, the Occupational Safety and Health Department intensified safety oversight. It completed 6,916 inspections, including 4,613 site visits and 2,303 visits to workers’ accommodations to ensure proper living and working conditions.
