Qatar’s universities have made remarkable progress in global rankings, reflecting the country’s commitment to higher education and research.
According to the 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, Qatar’s institutions have climbed significantly. These rankings serve as key benchmarks for policymakers, guiding decisions on education policies, funding, and resource allocation.
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) achieved one of the region’s highest ranking jumps, moving up 127 places to 183rd globally. This growth aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which prioritizes academic excellence, research, and global partnerships.
Qatar University also recorded a strong rise, advancing 51 spots to reach 122nd globally. The university’s focus on faculty development, interdisciplinary research, and innovation has reinforced its position as a leading institution.
A recent Arthur D. Little (ADL) report, Enhancing University Rankings to Support Human Capital Development, highlights how GCC nations, including Qatar, can leverage research funding and international collaborations to strengthen their universities.
With sustained investment in education, Qatar continues to establish itself as a hub for academic excellence and industry-driven research.
