This meeting marked a renewed phase in the relationship between the two countries, reflecting their shared goals and regional priorities, including Qatar’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, met with a Syrian delegation. The visiting group was led by Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan Al Shaibani. The delegation included seven other senior Syrian ministers, underlining the visit’s importance for bolstering support for Syria’s unity.

From the start of the meeting, messages of goodwill were exchanged. The Syrian minister conveyed greetings from President Ahmed Al Sharaa to the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. In return, the Qatari Prime Minister sent warm wishes back to the Syrian leadership, emphasizing Syria’s sovereignty.

Discussions focused on deepening cooperation across several sectors. These included trade, energy, finance, education, tourism, and information technology. Both countries agreed to expand efforts in joint development initiatives to boost support for Syria’s unity and sovereignty.

Moreover, Qatar and Saudi Arabia pledged joint financial support for Syria. This support will cover the salaries of public sector workers in Syria for three months. Additionally, they discussed plans to help Syria settle its outstanding debt to the World Bank, reinforcing efforts to support Syria’s sovereignty.

One major agreement involved supplying Syria with electricity. This support aims to help stabilize key infrastructure and improve everyday life for Syrians while maintaining support for Syria’s unity.
