Qatar Joins SCO Prosecutors General Meeting

Qatar took part in the 24th Meeting of Prosecutors General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. Prosecutorial Cooperation featured prominently as participating authorities discussed measures involving minors and stronger coordination.

The meeting took place through videoconference, with the Russian Federation hosting the session. Qatar participated through its Public Prosecution, which sent senior officials and several members to the meeting.

Public Prosecutor and Head of the Technical Office Mohammed Rashid Al Binali represented Qatar during the discussions. Several members of the Public Prosecution also joined him as part of the Qatari delegation.

The meeting examined several issues on its agenda, with particular attention given to protecting minors. Prosecutors discussed how authorities can regulate and supervise compliance with legislation protecting children’s rights and legitimate interests.

In addition, participants considered ways to strengthen cooperation between prosecution authorities and other institutions involved in prevention efforts. These institutions include government bodies, educational organizations and other entities working to prevent unlawful activities involving minors.

The discussions focused on improving coordination before unlawful activities affect young people. Authorities examined cooperation mechanisms that could support prevention efforts and strengthen institutional responses concerning minors.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed international cooperation among participating states on several areas involving the protection of minors. These discussions included efforts to prevent the spread of harmful information and reduce young people’s involvement in unlawful activities.

Participants also considered measures addressing the recruitment or involvement of minors in destructive and extremist movements. The agenda additionally covered other unlawful activities that could expose children and young people to serious risks.

Prosecutorial Cooperation therefore formed an important element of the meeting’s broader discussions on prevention and protection. By bringing prosecution authorities together, the session provided a forum for discussing shared challenges involving minors.

The discussions also highlighted the role of coordination between legal authorities and institutions outside the prosecution system. Educational institutions and government bodies can contribute to prevention efforts by supporting measures designed to protect young people.

Meanwhile, international cooperation remains relevant when unlawful activities and harmful information cross national boundaries. The meeting provided participating authorities with an opportunity to discuss cooperation between prosecution bodies across different jurisdictions.

The session also placed attention on legal compliance concerning the rights and legitimate interests of minors. Authorities discussed the importance of ensuring that relevant legislation receives appropriate oversight from prosecution institutions.

Qatar’s participation reflects the involvement of its Public Prosecution in international discussions concerning legal cooperation and protection measures. The delegation contributed to a meeting bringing together prosecutors general from Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.

The discussions covered both domestic prevention responsibilities and broader international cooperation between participating authorities. Consequently, the meeting addressed several connected issues surrounding child protection, unlawful activities and institutional coordination.

Prosecutorial Cooperation also supports communication between prosecution authorities when addressing issues that require coordinated responses. Such discussions can help participating institutions exchange approaches concerning legal oversight and prevention.

The meeting ultimately focused on strengthening cooperation while protecting minors from unlawful activities and harmful influences. Qatar’s participation placed its Public Prosecution within those wider discussions on legal coordination and child protection.

The 24th meeting therefore brought together prosecution representatives around a shared agenda involving minors, prevention and international cooperation. Qatar participated alongside representatives from the participating member states through the videoconference format.
