Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani attended the convocation ceremony of the 9th cohort of master’s students at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) on Saturday. The event, held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, marked a major milestone for the institute’s academic journey.
Several dignitaries participated in the ceremony, including ministers, Chair of the DI Board of Trustees Dr Azmi Bishara, and members of the governing board. Their presence highlighted the significance of the event in the academic calendar of Qatar.
This year, the institute celebrated the graduation of 220 students. Among them, 150 graduated from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, while 70 came from the School of Economics, Administration, and Public Policy. Collectively, the graduates represented 28 different nationalities, underlining the Doha Institute’s commitment to global academic diversity.
Notably, 95 of the graduates received support from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) through the State of Qatar’s International Scholarships Programme. This initiative continues to empower students from around the world by providing access to high-quality education. Additionally, 71 of the graduates were Qatari nationals, reflecting the country’s growing focus on higher education and leadership development.
Moreover, the ceremony underscored Qatar’s investment in academic excellence and policy-driven research. It also emphasized the role of institutions like DI in cultivating future leaders in public policy, administration, and social sciences.
The event ended on a high note as students and faculty celebrated this significant achievement, looking ahead to the contributions graduates will make in Qatar and beyond.
