Kuwait City: The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) took part in the 100th Executive Board Meeting of the GCC National Olympic Committee Presidents. The meeting was held in Kuwait on Sunday.
QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain led the Qatari delegation. The delegation included Sports Sector Director Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, Marketing and International Cooperation Sector Director Sheikha Asma bint Thani Al Thani, and Sports Affairs Department Director Mohammed Issa Al Fadala.
The meeting covered key discussions on upcoming sporting events and strategic initiatives. These initiatives aimed at advancing sports across the region. The Organizing Committee for the Third GCC Beach Games (Muscat 2025) presented an update on preparations for the event. It is set to take place from April 5 to 11.
Members also approved Kuwait’s request to host the Second Gulf Youth Games in 2028. The final decision was submitted to the Council of GCC Olympic Committees Presidents for approval. Another significant outcome was the endorsement of a conference on sports law and management. This aligns with the GCC’s strategic sports development plan established in 2020.
Several additional topics were reviewed during the session. Advisory committees were assigned to evaluate them and provide recommendations to the executive office.
Qatar’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening regional sports collaboration and supporting the growth of athletics in the Gulf.
