Qatar National Basketball Team Intensifies Training for FIBA Asia Cup 2025

The Qatar national basketball team is ramping up preparations for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 with a high-performance training camp in Turkiye. This critical phase of development continues until July 3, under the leadership of Turkish head coach Hakan Demir.

Organized by the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), this overseas camp forms a vital part of a broader plan to sharpen the skills and strategies of Qatar’s national basketball team. Every day, the players engage in intensive training sessions aimed at improving physical endurance and team coordination. These sessions also focus on preparing for the fast-paced nature of international competition.

The Qatar national basketball team faces a significant challenge in this year’s tournament. Drawn into Group A, they will compete against heavyweights such as Australia, Lebanon, and South Korea. This group is widely seen as one of the most competitive in the tournament.

Qatar opens its campaign against Lebanon on August 6. Two days later, the team will take on South Korea, followed by a tough clash with Australia on August 10. According to the tournament format, only the group winner advances directly to the quarterfinals. Second and third-place teams will enter knockout rounds for a chance to progress. Therefore, each match carries enormous weight for the national team representing Qatar.

Following the Turkiye camp, the squad returns to Doha for domestic training from July 8 to 14. They will then travel to South Korea from July 16 to 21 for their second overseas camp. During this leg, Qatar will play several friendly matches from July 18 to 20, gaining valuable experience against top-tier teams.

As the final step in their preparation, the Qatar national basketball team will compete in a friendly international tournament at Lusail Multipurpose Hall from July 25 to August 1. They will face Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Japan. This final set of matches provides an opportunity to fine-tune tactics before heading to Jeddah.

Despite facing a tough group, the Qatar national basketball team remains focused and motivated. The players aim to perform strongly and make their presence felt at one of Asia’s premier basketball competitions.

With robust preparation and growing team synergy, Qatar hopes its national basketball team will rise in the Asian basketball scene and surprise its opponents during the tournament.
