Qatar Museum Named Among TIME Top Destinations

Qatar Foundation’s Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum in Doha has been named one of TIME’s World’s Greatest Places 2026, placing it among 100 of the world’s most notable cultural destinations.

The recognition comes only months after the museum opened in November 2025, strengthening its position as a growing landmark within Qatar’s cultural and educational landscape.

Located in Education City, the museum is the first and largest institution dedicated to Indian modernist artist Maqbool Fida Husain, showcasing more than 150 works spanning painting, sculpture, film, photography and installations.

According to TIME, the museum stands out for its approach to presenting Husain’s work as part of a wider cultural dialogue linking South Asia, the Arab world and the Global South.

The museum was designed by Indian architect Martand Khosla based on an original concept sketch by Husain himself, reflecting the artist’s creative vision.

Qatar Foundation said the museum forms part of its broader mission to integrate art, education and cultural exchange, with public artworks also displayed across Education City.

Officials described the recognition as an important milestone, noting that the museum provides a space for learning, reflection cross-cultural engagement for visitors from around the world.
