The Speaker of Qatar’s Shura Council, HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, held a meeting with Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, who is currently visiting the country. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation. They placed particular emphasis on the parliamentary sphere.
The two leaders emphasized the importance of bolstering inter-parliamentary dialogue. They also stressed strengthening coordination between their legislative bodies at regional and international forums.
In addition to bilateral topics, the meeting also addressed the escalating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Speaker Al Ghanim underscored the need for parliaments around the world to uphold their moral and humanitarian obligations. This should be done by applying pressure to end the aggression against the Palestinian people.
He urged European parliaments to adopt more assertive positions. Such positions would contribute to halting the crisis and support international efforts to achieve justice and lasting peace.
