Qatar-Iraq Parliamentary Cooperation Strengthens During High-Level Talks in Doha

Qatar and Iraq have taken another step forward in strengthening their diplomatic ties. On Tuesday, Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim welcomed his Iraqi counterpart, Dr Mahmoud Al Mashhadani, to Doha. Their meeting focused on expanding Qatar-Iraq parliamentary cooperation and addressing urgent regional developments.

The discussions highlighted the deep and historic relations between Qatar and Iraq. Al Ghanim noted that these ties continue to grow stronger across various sectors, specifically through parliamentary cooperation. He stressed the importance of closer collaboration between the Shura Council and Iraq’s Council of Representatives. According to him, such cooperation will help serve both nations’ interests and meet the hopes of their people.

Dr Al Mashhadani expressed his appreciation for Qatar’s role in regional diplomacy. He praised the country for promoting security, stability, and sustainable development. Furthermore, he emphasized Iraq’s desire to deepen their cooperation through regular consultation and active dialogue with Qatar-Iraq parliamentary efforts.

During the meeting, both leaders explored ways to improve coordination on shared political and legislative priorities. They agreed to increase joint efforts and exchange parliamentary experiences, which is crucial for enhancing Qatar-Iraq cooperation. Their conversation also covered several key regional developments, especially the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

Both parties condemned the continued Israeli military aggression in Gaza. They called for a unified Arab parliamentary voice to confront these challenges. Moreover, they stressed the importance of collaboration within international parliamentary organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Through these avenues, Qatar-Iraq parliamentary cooperation aims to advocate strongly for Arab and Palestinian causes.

The two sides also discussed enhancing their countries’ influence on international decision-making. They believe that unified action and joint communication can shift global perspectives on key Arab issues. Through strategic dialogue, they plan to boost cooperation in Qatar-Iraq parliamentary roles in global forums.

In closing, the meeting reflected a shared commitment to peace, development, and Arab solidarity. As both nations move forward, their strengthened parliamentary relations promise greater unity in addressing regional challenges, particularly through Qatar-Iraq parliamentary cooperation.
