Doha – Qatar has established the Steering Committee for Smart Government and Digital Leadership to enhance its digital governance system. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani issued Decision No. 3 of 2025 to create the committee. It aims to boost efficiency and effectiveness in government services.
The Prime Minister chairs the committee, with the Minister of Interior serving as Vice Chairman. Other key members include the Governor of the Qatar Central Bank, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the Minister of Municipality, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, and several high-ranking officials from national planning, cybersecurity, and government development agencies.
The committee will oversee the implementation of the Digital Government Strategy. It will ensure collaboration between ministries, government bodies, public institutions, and NGOs. Additionally, it will approve executive plans, endorse digital initiatives, and establish policies that drive innovation in government services.
This initiative aligns with Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy, which focuses on governmental excellence through digital transformation. By promoting an innovative and integrated digital government model, Qatar aims to support sustainable development. It also aims to advance its Qatar National Vision 2030.
