Qatar Expands Opportunities for Qatari Talent at Career Day

Commercial Bank in Qatar recently hosted Career Day, attracting many Qatari candidates eager to explore job opportunities. The event focused on providing career pathways and hands-on experience for young Qatari talent. With such strong participation, the bank plans to make Career Day an annual event. This initiative supports Qatar’s long-term goal of developing a skilled national workforce.

During the event, more than half of the candidates received invitations for on-site interviews. Moreover, a significant number of interviewees signed job offers the same day. Commercial Bank ensured that the process ran smoothly, starting with registration and CV collection. Then HR professionals conducted screenings before hiring managers held interviews. Candidates also completed role assessments where needed, and reference checks confirmed suitability.

Career Day welcomed students and young professionals alike. Attendees learned about opportunities beyond banking, including economics, computer engineering, data engineering, cybersecurity, technology, and law. The bank highlighted multiple career paths, encouraging young Qataris to explore fields matching their interests and skills. By connecting candidates with different departments, Commercial Bank emphasized practical learning and professional growth.

Seven young Qataris, including children of Qatari mothers, signed job offers in front of the Assistant Director of the Department of National Manpower Recruitment. Their participation symbolized the success of Career Day and highlighted the bank’s commitment to Qatari talent development, which became a central theme of the event.

Qatarisation remains a strategic priority for Commercial Bank. Currently, 38.1% of the bank’s workforce consists of Qatari nationals. The bank sets annual targets to increase national representation in specialist and leadership roles. Furthermore, it offers tailored internships and training programs, preparing young Qataris with practical skills. Through these programs, the bank strengthens its talent pipeline while empowering future leaders.

Khalifa Al Rayes, Chief Human Capital Officer, praised the event, stating that Career Day reinforces the bank’s commitment to Qatari talent development. He added that the initiative reflects Qatar’s National Vision 2030 by fostering workforce growth and sustainability. Commercial Bank remains dedicated to opening opportunities and providing guidance for young Qataris.

By offering career insights, training, and professional support, Career Day advances both individual growth and national development. Additionally, the event encourages young Qataris to join multiple sectors, boosting the private sector’s contribution to Qatar’s economy. Commercial Bank continues to focus on Qatari talent development, ensuring future workforce readiness.

This initiative demonstrates how Qatar prioritizes young professionals, providing clear career paths and practical experience. The bank combines strategic planning with workforce development, aligning with national economic objectives. Career Day now serves as a model for engaging youth in meaningful employment opportunities.
