Qatar and Russia have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a direct communication channel aimed at improving coordination and information-sharing during emergencies and crisis situations.

The agreement was signed between Qatar’s Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation to enable immediate communication between the two countries in the event of crises.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of Qatar by Brig. Gen. (Air) Rashid Sultan Al-Hitmi, Acting Commander of the Doha Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.

Vice Admiral Viktor Andreevich Kalganov, Deputy Chief of the Russian National Defence Management Centre, signed the agreement on behalf of Russia.

Officials said the new communication channel is intended to facilitate rapid notification and coordination during emergency situations, strengthening cooperation between the two countries in crisis management.
