Fresh off their bronze medal win at the AVC Asian Nations Cup last month, Qatar is now setting their sights on gold at the West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship in Manama, Bahrain. The tournament kicks off this Saturday, with Qatar competing in a strong Group B, facing regional rivals Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The team is focused on the Qatar Volleyball Championship as a part of their sporting ambitions.
Under the guidance of Argentine coach Camilo Soto, Qatar has concluded their preparations at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall. Coach Soto expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the challenges ahead of the Qatar Volleyball Championship. “We are in a strong group, but we are ready for the challenge,” he said. “This championship is a crucial opportunity for us to integrate some talented young players and renew the squad for the challenges to come. We have focused on strengthening our weaknesses from the last tournament, and I am pleased with our development. We are ready.”
Player Othman Abdel Wahed also shared his optimism, stating, “After a short rest, we’ve focused entirely on preparing for this championship. We analyzed our performance in the last tournament and worked hard on improving and building our chemistry. Our ambition is clear – to win gold in the Qatar Volleyball Championship. We are ready to give our all to raise Qatar’s flag high and make our country proud.”
Along with Qatar’s tough competition in Group B, the tournament also includes teams from the host nation Bahrain, UAE, Jordan, and Lebanon, who will compete in Group A. The Qatar Volleyball Championship promises intense matches.
Qatar’s opening match is against Saudi Arabia on Saturday, July 19. The team will then face Oman on July 20 before concluding their group stage campaign against Kuwait the following day.
