Promoting Tolerance and Coexistence: Bahrain’s Role at Interfaith Dialogue Conference in Rome

Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation highlighted the importance of promoting tolerance and coexistence during the Second Interfaith Dialogue Conference in Rome. The delegation, led by Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, took part in the event alongside parliamentarians, religious leaders, and international representatives.

Throughout the conference, the delegation delivered several speeches and proposals. They emphasized Bahrain’s firm commitment to promoting tolerance and coexistence, religious diversity, respect, and the rejection of hatred and extremism. This approach reflects the nation’s ongoing efforts to build a peaceful society based on acceptance and mutual respect.

The sessions also included discussions on the parliament’s role in fighting hate speech and supporting religious freedoms. Participants explored ways to foster dialogue and understanding between different religions and cultures. Additionally, the delegation focused on protecting religious minorities’ rights and exchanging knowledge about using education to promote peace.

Moreover, the conference emphasized strengthening solidarity with vulnerable groups and advancing women’s roles through interfaith dialogue. These efforts align with Bahrain’s goals to create an inclusive society where everyone can contribute to public life.

The Rome Declaration emerged from the conference, offering key recommendations. It encouraged parliaments worldwide to enhance laws protecting freedom of thought, religion, and belief. It also urged action against hate speech, polarizing rhetoric, and the misuse of religion. Importantly, the declaration addressed digital threats to democracy and called for ethical leadership.

Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation included representatives from the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council. Their active participation demonstrated the nation’s commitment to promoting tolerance and coexistence on an international stage.

Overall, Bahrain continues to work towards building peace and unity through dialogue and cooperation. The delegation’s efforts at the conference reaffirm the country’s dedication to these values.
