Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Support for Syrian Integration at Munich Security Conference

Saudi Arabia emphasized its commitment to Syria’s political process during key meetings at the 2026 Munich Security Conference. The discussions focused on Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and ongoing national integration. Saudi support for Syria remained a central theme throughout the talks, highlighting Riyadh’s active diplomatic engagement in regional stability.

On February 14, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan met with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani to discuss bilateral relations and broader regional developments. The meeting reviewed cooperation between the two countries and strengthened ties between their peoples. The minister welcomed the comprehensive agreement in Syria, which integrates institutions of the Autonomous Administration into state structures. He also reiterated Saudi Arabia’s backing of Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

In a related meeting, General Mazloum Abdi of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Co-Chair Ilham Ahmed, and Syrian Interim Government Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani met with Faisal bin Farhan. During this session, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for the political process and the implementation of the January 29 agreement. Abdi expressed gratitude for the Kingdom’s continuous support, including efforts to lift sanctions and facilitate the agreement’s execution.

The meetings emphasized ongoing cooperation between Syrian authorities, Kurdish leadership, and Saudi Arabia. Both sides highlighted steps to promote security, stability, and development in the region. Abdi noted that Saudi support was vital in advancing dialogue and ensuring the integration of Syrian institutions. Meanwhile, Faisal bin Farhan underscored confidence in Syria’s progress in implementing reforms with Kurdish authorities, adding that the country’s economic potential would impress the international community.

Discussions also touched on regional developments, including measures to enhance peace, economic resilience, and cooperation across the Middle East. Saudi Arabia highlighted its role as a stabilizing partner and reiterated readiness to support initiatives promoting national integration and regional security.

The meetings at MSC 2026 reflected growing engagement between Riyadh and Syrian actors, including both government and Kurdish representatives. Saudi support for Syria emerged as a recurring theme, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to dialogue, reconstruction, and regional collaboration.
