The Ministry of Transport has launched a passenger transport inspection campaign across Qatar in coordination with the Ministry of Interior. The campaign targets companies offering pre-scheduled transport services without proper licenses.
During the first quarter of 2025, inspectors identified several serious violations. One company was caught operating through online apps without obtaining a license from the Ministry of Transport. This incident raised concerns about how unregulated operations are influencing the effectiveness of the passenger transport inspection campaign.
Authorities recorded 66 violations by licensed limousine companies. These involved offering services through online platforms outside of approved legal frameworks. Additionally, 13 individuals were found using private cars for unlicensed transport activities, which goes against the ongoing campaign inspecting passenger transport violations.
As part of the passenger transport inspection campaign, officials also flagged 11 violations by drivers working for licensed limousine companies. These breaches varied but all contravened provisions of Law No. 8 of 2019, which governs land transport services.
The Ministry of Transport has promised strict legal action against all violators. It emphasized that all transport operators must secure licenses before using any online applications. Failing to comply with the law could result in serious penalties.
Moreover, the ministry reminded companies that operating without a license disrupts fair market competition. This disrupts efforts in passenger transport campaigns aimed at inspection compliance. It weakens public trust in regulated transport providers. The ministry’s main objective remains clear: protect passengers, enforce legal standards, and ensure licensed companies deliver safe, reliable services.
The passenger transport inspection campaign also supports national efforts to enhance safety in the transport sector. The ministry stressed that online transport platforms must follow legal frameworks set by Decision No. 13 of 2024.
Officials noted that companies failing to meet safety standards or licensing conditions will face harsh penalties. They warned that enforcement efforts will continue throughout 2025 and beyond as part of the broader inspection campaign for passenger transport.
In conclusion, the passenger transport inspection campaign underlines Qatar’s commitment to lawful, safe, and efficient transportation services. The Ministry of Transport urges all companies to comply with existing laws and obtain proper authorization to avoid penalties and contribute to a fair market environment.
