Oman saw the registration of more than 2,000 commercial agencies during 2024. This number includes new registrations, renewals, and cancellations across various sectors. The effort aims to streamline commercial operations and ensure legal compliance.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion reported that 2024 witnessed 458 new commercial agencies. Additionally, 944 agencies underwent renewals. However, 413 agencies had their validity expire due to non-renewal or failure to meet the deadlines set by the Commercial Agencies Law No. 26/77. These actions reflect the ministry’s ongoing efforts to maintain a well-regulated market environment.
Yaqoob bin Shayikh Al Dhabouni, Head of the Division of Registration of Commercial Agencies, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that commercial agencies in Oman adhere to legal regulations. He pointed out that the ministry closely monitors the compliance of local agents, ensuring that their agencies are updated and renewed through the Oman Business Platform. This digital approach promotes transparency and helps streamline the flow of goods within the country.
Furthermore, Al Dhabouni highlighted the ministry’s strict stance on legal violations. He confirmed that any agencies found in violation of the provisions would face necessary legal action. He also urged investors to take advantage of the facilities available to ensure they comply with the law and avoid penalties.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion remains dedicated to developing the regulatory frameworks for commercial agencies in Oman. These efforts aim to enhance the business environment and contribute positively to the national economy. The ministry continues to improve its systems to facilitate ease of doing business and support long-term economic growth.
Through these measures, Oman aims to ensure that commercial agencies in Oman operate efficiently and within the bounds of the law, fostering a robust and transparent business climate.
