Oman LNG has completed its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment aboard the newly commissioned Muscat LNG carrier, marking a milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen its role in global energy supply chains.
The vessel, owned by ASYAD Shipping, is one of the latest additions to Oman’s LNG fleet and is expected to enhance the country’s export capacity while supporting the integration of its energy, logistics and maritime sectors.
The Muscat LNG was recently launched and is equipped with dual-fuel propulsion technology designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The vessel has been built to meet international standards for operational performance, safety and environmental sustainability.
Hamad bin Mohammed Al Nu’mani, CEO of Oman LNG, said the inaugural shipment reflects the company’s commitment to providing reliable energy supplies to international markets while strengthening partnerships with national institutions, including ASYAD Shipping.
He added that the new vessel demonstrates the readiness of Oman’s integrated energy sector to meet growing global demand through efficient and sustainable maritime transport.
The arrival of the Muscat LNG is the first of two new LNG carriers scheduled to join the Oman LNG industrial complex, with a second vessel expected to arrive in July.
The expansion supports the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to enhance the country’s position as a regional and global hub for energy, logistics and maritime services by increasing value across the energy supply chain.
Established in 1994, Oman LNG exports liquefied natural gas to international markets and plays a key role in diversifying the country’s economy. The Oman LNG Development Foundation’s investment fund also holds a 10% stake in the Muscat LNG vessel, supporting long-term investment in the energy and transport sectors.
