Oman-Iraq Judicial Cooperation Strengthens as Top Officials Meet to Advance Legal Reforms and Training

In a move to deepen bilateral legal collaboration, Sayyid Mohammed Sultan Al Busaidi, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council of Oman, received Dr. Faiq Zidan, President of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, at his office on Wednesday.

The high-level visit focused on enhancing Oman-Iraq judicial cooperation, with both delegations engaging in strategic discussions to improve judicial systems.
Dr. Zidan was accompanied by a senior Iraqi delegation during his official visit to Oman.

Both sides agreed that developing judicial relations is crucial for legal advancement and regional stability.
They explored several key areas for collaboration, including training programs, joint technical initiatives, and legal capacity building.

The officials also reviewed ways to modernise court procedures and expedite litigation processes in both countries.
They stressed the need to improve judicial services and strengthen institutional performance across court systems.

During the meeting, Oman shared its experience in digital transformation within the judiciary.
The Iraqi delegation learned how Oman’s court system uses technology to enhance transparency, efficiency, and access to justice.

The discussions highlighted that the Oman-Iraq judicial cooperation aims to create lasting partnerships rooted in shared legal goals.
Special attention was given to refining legal training mechanisms and creating sustainable frameworks for continued knowledge exchange.

Al Busaidi affirmed that this visit marks an important step toward stronger regional judicial ties.
