Oman Cracks Down on Illegal Gambling in Al Buraimi: Eight Arrested in Major Sweep

Omani authorities increased security efforts after uncovering illegal gambling activities in Al Buraimi. The arrests highlight firm action to protect social values and community safety. Officials stressed that law enforcement remains a national priority across all governorates.

The Al Buraimi Governorate Police Command launched investigations after residents reported suspicious gatherings. However, officers monitored movements carefully and reviewed information over several days. These steps helped confirm repeated gambling behavior inside a residential area.

Police later raided the location and detained eight Asian nationals at the scene. Investigators confirmed the group organized gambling sessions in violation of local laws. Authorities stressed that such acts threaten social stability and public morals.

The Royal Oman Police confirmed that all detainees remain in custody. Legal procedures started immediately following the arrests. Officials stated that courts will review the case under existing criminal laws.

Authorities linked the operation to wider national efforts against illegal gambling activities. Police continue monitoring neighborhoods to prevent similar violations. Officials emphasized that enforcement applies equally to citizens and expatriates.

In a separate case, police in Muscat uncovered a vehicle theft scheme. A citizen targeted rental vehicles for valuable spare parts. Investigators found repeated thefts involving catalytic converters.

The suspect rented vehicles, removed parts, and returned them unnoticed. Later, an Asian expatriate helped dismantle and sell the stolen items. Police arrested both suspects after gathering strong evidence.

Authorities confirmed that both individuals now face legal charges. Officials warned that vehicle crimes harm businesses and public trust. Police also urged rental companies to strengthen inspection procedures.

Furthermore, authorities encouraged residents to report suspicious behavior promptly. Community cooperation helps stop crimes before they expand. Police hotlines remain active across all regions.

Officials also warned expatriates about penalties for breaking national laws. Consequences may include fines, detention, or deportation. Authorities stressed respect for local customs and regulations.

While confronting illegal gambling activities, Oman reinforces its commitment to public safety. Security forces promised continued patrols and closer monitoring. Officials reaffirmed dedication to preserving peace and social order.
