Kuwait Carries Out Death Sentences For Five Convicts

Kuwait authorities on Saturday carried out death sentences against five men convicted in separate criminal cases involving premeditated murder and other serious offences, following the completion of all legal procedures and appeals.

The Public Prosecution said it supervised the executions at the Central Prison after the convictions were upheld by the Court of Appeal and the Court of Cassation. The sentences were implemented after receiving final ratification from the Amir.

Those executed included four individuals convicted in separate murder cases, as well as a man found guilty of kidnapping, rape and other violent crimes. The convicts were from Kuwait, Egypt and stateless residents, according to the prosecution.

Authorities said the cases involved crimes committed over several years, including the killing of a police officer, a kidnapping that resulted in murder, sexual assault and other acts of violence. Prosecutors noted that all defendants were granted their legal rights throughout the investigation and trial process, including opportunities to appeal the rulings.

In a statement, the Public Prosecution said the convictions stemmed from offences involving premeditated murder and other grave crimes that posed a serious threat to public safety.

The prosecution added that the sentences were carried out after all judicial procedures had been exhausted, describing the implementation of the rulings as part of the country’s legal framework for addressing serious criminal offences.
