Oman Air Growth Triples Direct Passenger Traffic

Oman Air growth has reached a major milestone, reflecting a sharp increase in direct passenger traffic and strategic route success. Specifically, the airline tripled its point-to-point traffic, growing from 75,000 passengers in June 2024 to 200,000 in June 2025.

As a result, this growth means that 58 percent of Oman Air’s passengers now arrive directly in Oman. These travelers do not use Muscat as a transit point. In fact, this ratio is nearly double that of any other Gulf Cooperation Council airline.

Therefore, the Oman Air growth strategy focuses on bringing more tourists directly to Oman. The airline avoids overreliance on transit traffic and instead builds stable and sustainable routes. According to the airline, this shift boosts tourism revenue and strengthens long-term profitability.

Meanwhile, Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer at Oman Air, emphasized the airline’s goals. He said the mission is not to increase flights blindly. Instead, the focus is on making each flight more meaningful by attracting more visitors to the country.

Moreover, he explained that the growth is the result of data-driven route planning, well-targeted marketing, and a network built on demand. Rutter added that stronger route performance also supports future expansion. This creates a cycle of sustainable growth.

Additionally, Oman Air is continuing to invest in modernizing its fleet and expanding its global footprint. Recent route additions include Amsterdam, opening access to the Benelux market. Furthermore, from October 2025, the airline will bring back double-daily flights to London.

As a member of the oneworld Alliance, Oman Air now connects Oman to over 700 global destinations. This includes access to markets in Japan, Australia, and North America.

Importantly, the airline’s strategic focus aligns with Oman’s national tourism and economic goals. It contributes directly to increasing visitor numbers and generating tourism income. These efforts also enhance Oman’s appeal as a global travel destination.

Finally, the Oman Air growth momentum supports infrastructure investment in Oman’s tourism sector. With strong leadership, targeted marketing, and global connectivity, the airline is helping shape Oman’s position in the world travel market.
