The UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad welcomed two newborns, marking a truly blessed beginning for their families. Baby Makkah and Baby Umar arrived at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, coinciding with the nation’s celebrations.
Baby Makkah, born at midnight to Algerian parents Zuhair Attar and Lamia Mermat, weighed 3.110 kg. The family had discovered the pregnancy while visiting Makkah, inspiring her meaningful name. Her arrival created a blessed beginning for the parents and strengthened the family’s connection to the UAE.
“They supported us at every stage, especially Dr Hala Elsayed,” the parents said. “We feel fortunate to welcome Makkah on this special day.”
Soon after, Baby Umar was born to Pakistani parents, adding joy to the National Day celebrations. Both newborns aligned perfectly with the spirit of unity and hope, reflecting a blessed beginning for their families.
Dr Hala Elsayed, Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecologist, said she felt proud assisting the first births of the day. “Witnessing new life on UAE National Day is always a privilege,” she said. “Both mothers and babies are healthy and thriving.”
The first newborns reflected the UAE’s inclusive spirit. Families from Algeria, Pakistan, and Bangladesh joined the celebrations, highlighting the nation’s role as a welcoming home for expatriates.
These babies symbolize more than joy. They represent hope, continuity, and the nurturing environment of the UAE. Their first cries resonated with families, hospital staff, and the wider community, reinforcing shared values and optimism.
As the country commemorates Eid Al Etihad, Baby Makkah and Baby Umar’s arrivals remind everyone of life’s ongoing journey and the promise of new beginnings. Their presence offers inspiration and connection for families across the nation.
