The 29th edition of the Muscat Book Fair has officially opened its doors. The event takes place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, inaugurated the fair.

Many prominent figures attended the launch. These include His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, and Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Oman’s Minister of Information. Dr. Al Harrasi also chairs the event’s Main Organizing Committee.

The Muscat Book Fair this year features an impressive international presence. A total of 674 publishing houses from 35 countries are taking part. Of those, 640 publishers have direct booths, while 34 participate through agencies.

This year’s edition showcases a massive literary collection. Over 681,000 book titles are listed on the fair’s platform. These include 467,413 Arabic titles and 213,610 in other languages. Notably, Omani publishers are contributing 27,464 local titles.

The fair also features 52,205 newly printed books from the years 2024 and 2025. This reflects the fair’s dedication to promoting fresh content and emerging authors. Readers and collectors can explore a wide range of genres and topics.

One of the highlights of the Muscat Book Fair is the Guest of Honor pavilion. This year, the spotlight shines on the Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah. The region’s dedicated exhibit offers visitors a deep dive into its rich culture and traditions.

The pavilion explores North Al Sharqiyah’s history and scientific achievements. It also features prominent local personalities, tourist landmarks, and aspects of modern life in the region. This special focus enhances the cultural depth of the event.

The Muscat Book Fair continues to grow in scale and impact. It provides a vital platform for dialogue, discovery, and cultural exchange. By celebrating books and ideas, it strengthens the region’s literary and educational landscape.

Organizers encourage families, students, and researchers to attend. With a wide selection of books and events, the fair promises to inspire minds of all ages.
