Doha – Qatar
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has introduced its annual Ramadan discount initiative. This initiative reduces prices on more than 1,000 essential consumer goods across major retail outlets in Qatar.
Running until the end of Ramadan, the initiative aims to ease financial pressures on consumers by offering early access to discounted products. According to the ministry, launching the program ahead of Ramadan allows shoppers ample time to benefit from lower prices. It begins before the holy month starts.
The discounted items include essential food products such as flour, sugar, rice, pasta, chicken, cooking oil, and milk. There are also non-food items like tissues, aluminum foil, and household cleaning products, which typically see higher demand during Ramadan.
MoCI has pledged to monitor commercial outlets to ensure compliance with the pricing policy. They urged consumers to shop responsibly while reporting any violations. Complaints and suggestions can be submitted through the ministry’s official channels.
