Local Vegetable Production in Qatar Covers 100% of Market Demand During Peak Months

Doha, Qatar: Local vegetable production in Qatar successfully meets 100% of market demand during peak months. This is according to Yousef Khalid Al Khulaifi, Director of the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality.

Al Khulaifi noted that during certain peak months, local vegetable production in Qatar fully satisfies consumer needs without relying on imports. He highlighted that the produce maintains high quality. This aligns with the preferences of Qatari consumers.

This achievement in producing vegetables locally reflects the strength of Qatar’s agricultural sector. It also plays a key role in the country’s ongoing efforts to ensure food security. Additionally, it stabilizes prices and reduces import dependency.

Furthermore, Al Khulaifi emphasized the Ministry’s continued commitment to supporting local farmers. Through various initiatives, the Ministry promotes local produce and safeguards it from unfair competition. It also offers better marketing platforms to boost consumer confidence.

The Ministry of Municipality, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has enhanced the visibility and competitiveness of Qatari agricultural products. This partnership has also contributed to market stability. It provides better access for farmers focusing on vegetable production locally.

In addition, Al Khulaifi highlighted the importance of the agricultural data digitization project. This initiative aims to create a central, reliable platform that gives policymakers and producers accurate data to improve decision-making. It also enhances productivity and self-sufficiency, especially in local vegetable production.

He added that digitizing agricultural and fisheries data is crucial for boosting food production and ensuring food security. The project aligns with Qatar’s digital transformation goals. It aims to introduce sustainable, smart farming methods with a focus on local vegetable production.

In conclusion, Al Khulaifi praised the vital role played by local farmers in achieving economic stability and national food security. He acknowledged their dedication to improving the quality of local vegetable production in Qatar. This continues to meet rising consumer expectations.
