Lifesaving Heart Care: Qatar Charity Transforms Children’s Lives in Yemen

Lifesaving heart care brought hope to 33 children in Taiz, Yemen, as Qatar Charity’s “27th Night Challenge” made a real impact. This initiative provided urgent cardiac treatment for children suffering from congenital heart defects amid the country’s ongoing crisis.

During the campaign, medical teams organized a pediatric heart camp at the Cardiac and Vascular Center in Taiz. They performed 33 critical procedures, including 30 cardiac catheterizations to fix heart septal holes. Three children underwent open-heart surgeries for life-threatening conditions.

Families had long struggled to afford treatment due to the high costs and disrupted salaries. Many children had no access to specialized pediatric cardiac care. Consequently, their conditions worsened daily. The medical camp offered a vital lifeline, alleviating both pain and anxiety for these children and their families.

Consultant cardiac surgeon Abu Dhar Al-Jundi emphasized that lifesaving heart care was essential for children facing severe health risks. He added that delayed treatment could have been fatal. The surgeon described the greatest reward as seeing children recover and families smile again after surgery.

Parents shared their gratitude. Hussein’s mother noted that her son’s successful catheterization gave him a new chance at life. Similarly, Jawaher’s mother celebrated her daughter’s safe recovery, calling it a moment she would never forget.

Qatar Charity’s campaign focused on mobilizing direct action beyond fundraising. Donors contributed over QAR 40 million, supporting medical interventions for children in several countries, including Yemen and Qatar. The initiative highlights how lifesaving heart care can transform families’ futures even in challenging humanitarian conditions.

The campaign also raised awareness about the importance of pediatric cardiac care. By combining donor support, medical expertise, and organized planning, Qatar Charity demonstrated that urgent healthcare needs can be met efficiently and safely.

This initiative reinforces the power of humanitarian action. Lifesaving heart care not only treats critical conditions but restores hope for the most vulnerable populations. Qatar Charity continues to inspire international support for similar campaigns.
