Labour law violations have led to multiple arrests in different parts of Oman, reflecting increased enforcement by the Royal Oman Police.
On Monday, police authorities confirmed the arrest of individuals involved in two unrelated but serious offences. These include theft and breaches of labour and residency laws.
To begin with, the Muscat Governorate Police Command, working closely with the Directorate General of Airport Security, took swift action in a gold theft case. Officers arrested three Sri Lankan nationals at Muscat International Airport. Among those arrested was a domestic worker suspected of stealing jewellery.
According to the police, the suspects attempted to flee the country after stealing gold ornaments from a residence in Muttrah. Thanks to coordinated efforts, authorities intercepted them before departure. Legal measures are now in progress.
This incident highlights growing attention to cases involving domestic workers and property crimes. The Royal Oman Police continue to emphasize prompt investigation and collaboration between departments.
Meanwhile, in the Wilayat of Sur, a separate operation targeted labour law violations. Officers from the South Sharqiyah Governorate Police Command detained 18 women of Asian nationalities. Authorities found these individuals violating Oman’s Labour Law and the Foreigners’ Residence Law.
Authorities confirmed that legal action is underway in both incidents. The arrests serve as a reminder of Oman’s strict regulations on employment and residency. Officials have urged citizens and businesses to comply fully with existing laws.
Labour law violations remain a recurring issue in many areas. Consequently, law enforcement agencies across Oman continue to monitor residential zones and workplaces. These measures aim to prevent illegal employment and reduce associated risks.
Additionally, the Royal Oman Police continue to carry out awareness campaigns on the legal rights and responsibilities of foreign workers. Community members are also encouraged to report suspicious activity promptly.
In conclusion, labour law violations, whether through theft or illegal employment, carry serious consequences. Oman’s police remain committed to upholding legal order and public safety across all governorates.
