The Kuwaiti Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi, announced on Saturday a series of new decisions aimed at updating the lists of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. These updates include the addition of new substances to the schedules, ensuring that they align with their respective legal classifications.
The goal behind these updates is to maintain control over the pharmaceutical market and protect the public from the potential misuse of such substances. The ministry emphasized that these changes reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen regulations on narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, which is crucial in safeguarding public health.
These updates also highlight the country’s commitment to staying aligned with the latest scientific advancements and legislative changes in the field of drug control.
Among the new decisions, Decision No. 29/2025 adds “Promethazine” to Schedule No. 1 of Law No. 74/1983. Meanwhile, Decision No. 30/2025 introduces substances such as “Chloromethcathinone” and “Fluorodischloroketamine,” along with their derivatives, to Schedule No. 2 of Law No. 45/1987.
The ministry reiterated its ongoing efforts to continually update laws and regulations concerning drug control to ensure the highest standards of public safety and health.
