Kuwait Signs Deal to Build Historic Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Museum in Mubarakiya

Kuwait has sealed a significant agreement to construct the Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Museum in the heart of Mubarakiya. The museum will serve as a major cultural and tourist landmark, reinforcing the deep-rooted relations between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. This project, aimed at enhancing Mubarakiya’s development, will highlight the shared history and enduring ties between the two nations.

Eng. Manal Al-Asfour, Director General of the Kuwait Municipality, signed the contract with Dar Al-Shaheen Engineering Consultancy for the project’s construction. The museum will be located within Mubarakiya Markets, a vibrant area near Al Bahr Mosque and the Central Gold Market in Kuwait City’s Qibla district.

The Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Museum will cover an area of 4,490 m² and feature a replica of the original Imam House. The project will include supporting museums, commercial spaces, a basement, and a café, with a design study phase set to take one year.

The museum will play a crucial role in showcasing the rich, historical ties between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, focusing on the House of Saud’s legacy and the Imam’s significance in Mubarakiya. It will narrate a pivotal period of cooperation and solidarity between the two nations, reflecting their shared cultural and familial bonds.

Through this cultural initiative, Kuwait aims to preserve and honor its historical connection with Saudi Arabia. The museum will offer a glimpse into the traditions, lifestyle, and customs of the past, serving as an enduring reminder of the deep ties that continue to shape the relationship between the two countries.

Once completed, the Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Museum is expected to become a vibrant hub for tourists and cultural enthusiasts, further establishing Mubarakiya as a key destination for heritage and history in the region.
