Kuwait Security Measures Strengthened with UK Counter-Drone Support Amid Regional Tensions

The Kuwait security measures are intensifying as the country strengthens defenses against aerial threats and regional tensions. The UK has deployed advanced counter-drone systems to support Kuwait. This move enhances Kuwait’s ability to detect, track, and neutralize uncrewed aerial systems effectively.

Between March 25 and 29, the UK sent the Rapid Sentry and Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM) systems to Kuwait. These technologies provide a robust “hard kill” capability against drones. In addition, the ORCUS+ system enables full detection, identification, and interception of hostile aerial threats. Consequently, Kuwait’s airspace protection is significantly reinforced.

The UK Ambassador to Kuwait, Qudsi Rasheed, emphasized that the UK condemns Iran’s attacks in the region. However, he noted that the conflict is not Britain’s war. Nevertheless, the UK cannot ignore threats to its nationals, interests, and Gulf allies, including Kuwait.

Moreover, the UK deployed Royal Air Force specialists to provide advisory support and training. Kuwaiti pilots receive guidance on airspace management and counter-drone operations. The ambassador stressed that the longstanding British Military Mission, operating for over three decades, continues to integrate with Kuwaiti forces. This team maintains training, operational support, and collaboration across military units.

The Kuwait security measures extend to wider regional coordination. The UK explores additional support with defense companies while keeping operational details confidential. Diplomatically, Britain emphasizes reducing tensions, promoting de-escalation, and achieving a negotiated solution. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains a key priority.

The ambassador highlighted close cooperation between UK and Kuwaiti officials. High-level coordination includes ministers and leadership teams to ensure both military and diplomatic alignment. Furthermore, British nationals in Kuwait are advised to follow safety protocols, particularly regarding risks from falling debris during interceptions.

Kuwaiti Armed Forces and frontline personnel, including the National Guard, fire services, medical teams, and emergency responders, received praise. Their dedication maintains essential services and safeguards lives amid ongoing threats. The ambassador also extended condolences to families of those affected by Iranian strikes, including casualties and displaced individuals.

The Kuwait security measures showcase the country’s proactive approach to regional threats. By combining technology, training, and diplomatic coordination, Kuwait reinforces its defense while ensuring stability and safety.
