Kuwait Reaffirms Its Long-Standing Backing for Palestinian Rights

Kuwait continues its steadfast support for Palestine. The nation champions the Palestinian people’s rights to land and freedom. Furthermore, experts confirmed this enduring position on Friday. This commitment spans more than eight decades. Additionally, the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has consistently condemned occupation and violence. He also reflected this national policy at the Gulf Summit last December.

Moreover, the Amir has repeatedly addressed the international community. He specifically urged the UN Security Council to act. Consequently, he demanded an immediate halt to hostilities. He also called for civilian protection and safe aid corridors. Therefore, he reaffirmed Kuwait’s historical and principled stance. This position supports the Palestinian struggle for independence. It also advocates for a state based on 1967 borders. Importantly, East Jerusalem must be its capital.

Kuwait’s diplomatic role has been particularly visible. For instance, its UN diplomacy in 2023 highlighted the need to protect civilians. This effort earned wide international support. Then in 2024, Kuwait intensified its diplomatic interventions. It warned that a lack of a just solution creates regional instability. By 2025, Kuwait further strengthened its international leadership. It actively participated in UN General Assembly discussions. It also asserted that a Palestinian state is the only viable solution.

Since the assault on Gaza, Kuwait expanded its efforts significantly. It launched urgent aid convoys immediately. It also mobilized public initiatives to stop the attacks. At the Cairo Peace Summit, the Amir condemned forced displacement. He also stated that Middle East peace requires an independent Palestine. This steadfast support for Palestine integrates both political and humanitarian efforts.

Dr. Noura Al-Shuaibi, a political science professor, detailed the humanitarian response. She noted Kuwait deployed over 50 aircraft and three relief ships. Medical teams also performed life-saving surgeries inside Gaza. Diplomatically, Kuwait took firm stances in many international forums. It also continued financial contributions to UNRWA. Local charities ran wide-reaching campaigns raising tens of millions of dollars.

Dr. Ayed Al-Jarid, a history professor, emphasized Kuwait’s consistent role. He said Kuwait has been a key voice for the Palestinian perspective since 1948. This includes donations, relief shipments, and vocal advocacy. Dr. Khaled Al-Shatti of the Fanar center highlighted specific campaigns. For example, the “Faza’a for Gaza” campaign raised over 11.5 million Kuwaiti dinars. This steadfast support for Palestine reinforces Kuwait’s global reputation. The nation is seen as a principled and ethical voice for justice and self-determination.
