Kuwait Launches ‘3rd National Debt Relief Campaign’ to Support Struggling Citizens

The Ministry of Social Affairs in Kuwait is set to launch the third edition of the National Debt Relief Campaign on Friday, March 14, 2025. The initiative, which will run for a month, aims to help Kuwaiti citizens who are facing financial hardships due to non-criminal debts. The campaign will be conducted in collaboration with various charitable organizations, under strict supervision to ensure transparency and fairness in distributing aid.

This national effort is a direct response to the directives of Kuwait’s political leadership, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to supporting citizens in need. By easing the financial burdens of those struggling with debt, the campaign seeks to strengthen social solidarity and provide a lifeline to vulnerable individuals and families.

The Ministry of Social Affairs will oversee the entire process, ensuring that donations are handled responsibly and effectively. An electronic monitoring system will be utilized to track the collection and distribution of funds, maintaining high standards of integrity. Charitable organizations involved in the campaign will operate within a clear and transparent framework, adhering to specific criteria for selecting beneficiaries.

Eligible recipients must be Kuwaiti citizens facing financial difficulties due to debts, provided they can prove their inability to pay through official documentation. Importantly, the campaign will not cover debts related to criminal activities, illegal transactions, or debts with telecommunications companies or informal lenders.

To ensure a streamlined process, the Ministry will accept only electronic registration through the “Central Aid Platform,” eliminating in-person applications. This system guarantees fairness and prevents misuse. A payment cap of 20,000 Kuwaiti dinars has been set, which allows the initiative to reach more individuals in need.

The campaign will exclude individuals who have previously benefited from past debt relief efforts. Additionally, coordination between the Ministry of Justice and participating charitable societies will ensure that the funds are directed to those most in need, maintaining equity in the distribution of aid.

Overall, the 3rd National Debt Relief Campaign aims to provide much-needed financial support to Kuwaiti citizens, reinforcing the country’s commitment to social welfare and ensuring that assistance is fairly allocated to those struggling with debt.
