Kuwait-Japan Pacts Target Energy and Business Growth, Says Ambassador Mukai

Kuwait and Japan have signed new agreements aimed at boosting energy, investment, and diplomatic cooperation. The pacts were finalized during the visit of His Highness Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Japan last week.

Japan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Kenichiro Mukai, announced that both nations agreed on joint efforts in electricity, water, and renewable energy. This major agreement was signed between Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.

“This visit marks a new chapter in our partnership,” Mukai said. “We are proud of His Highness’ meetings with Emperor Naruhito, Crown Prince Fumihito, and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.”

During the visit, Kuwait and Japan also signed a memorandum of understanding on diplomatic training. The deal, established between the two foreign ministries, aims to enhance diplomatic expertise and cultural exchange.

In a move to strengthen business ties, Japan’s JETRO signed another MoU with Kuwait’s Direct Investment Promotion Authority. This agreement will boost Japanese business presence in Kuwait and attract more direct investment.

“We look forward to growing Japanese investment in Kuwait,” said Mukai. “This visit reinforces our long-standing friendship and shared goals.”

Kuwait’s Ambassador to Japan, Sami Al-Zamanan, called the visit a “historic turning point” in bilateral relations. He emphasized the importance of high-level meetings with Japan’s top leadership and their impact on regional cooperation.

“The meetings show deep respect between our nations,” Al-Zamanan stated. “They also show a joint vision for economic and diplomatic progress.”

His Highness also visited the Expo 2025 site in Osaka, highlighting Kuwait’s global engagement in innovation and sustainability. This visit signals Kuwait’s commitment to future-focused initiatives in line with international development trends.
