Kuwait Hosts Region’s Leading Women’s Sailing Event

Kuwait opened the Second Arab Women’s Sailing Championship today with strong enthusiasm and clear goals linked to international sports progress. The event brings together athletes from across the region, and it highlights Kuwait’s growing role in shaping international sports progress. The introduction of wider participation and professional organization also strengthens expectations for steady international sports progress throughout this championship.

The organizing team at the Kuwait Sea Sports Club confirmed full readiness for the event. Moreover, the team outlined the championship schedule and emphasized the importance of smooth coordination. The preparations cover all technical needs, logistical plans, and safety requirements.

The championship features 45 athletes from nine national teams. These teams come from the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, and Kuwait. Additionally, the event brings together international referees from Morocco, Algeria, Italy, Poland, France, and Russia. Their involvement adds strong credibility and valuable experience to the races.

The races begin daily at 10:00 AM at Messila Beach. The competitions include three classes: Optimist, ILCA 4, and ILCA 6. Furthermore, the coastal location offers ideal conditions for stable winds and safe navigation. The organizing committee expects intense competition due to the experience level of the participating athletes.

The closing ceremony will take place on Friday at 6:00 PM in Salmiya. The event will welcome officials from the Arab Sailing Federation along with club representatives and participating teams. The ceremony aims to honor outstanding performances and highlight the championship’s role in supporting women in sports.

Separately, the Arab Sailing Federation will hold an Executive Committee meeting on Thursday. The meeting will take place at the Mövenpick Hotel at 10:00 AM. The committee plans to review development plans, expand training programs, and discuss future regional cooperation. This meeting also aims to enhance coordination between member states and strengthen the sailing calendar.

In an earlier statement, federation leaders praised Kuwait’s efforts in preparing the championship. They acknowledged the strong support from national sports authorities and the Kuwait Sea Sports Club. They also highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to ensuring fair races and a professional environment. Consequently, the organizers believe these efforts will motivate more women to enter sailing, grow regional talent, and raise competitive standards across Arab teams.
