Kuwait Hosts 4th GCC Women Journalists Forum Highlighting Media Leadership

Kuwait recently hosted the 4th GCC Women Journalists Forum, emphasizing the empowerment of women in media. The event showcased how Gulf women contribute to shaping awareness, building individuals, and strengthening national identity. Moreover, the forum highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to fostering media excellence and cultural growth. Clearly, promoting the empowerment of women in media remains a key priority for the Gulf region.

The forum opened under the patronage of Kuwait’s Information and Culture Minister, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, who also serves as State Minister of Youth Affairs. Organized by the Kuwait Journalists Association in cooperation with the Gulf Journalists Union, the event carried the theme “The Gulf Narrative of Women in Media.” Al-Mutairi noted that the forum reflects Kuwait’s vibrant cultural and media momentum. He added that hosting the forum aligns with Kuwait’s designation as the 2025 Arab Capital of Culture and Media.

Speakers emphasized the expanding roles of women in Gulf journalism. They noted women now excel across print, digital, editorial, as well as leadership positions. Their contributions demonstrate innovation, capability, and the ability to influence public discourse. The forum offered opportunities to discuss challenges and strategies for continued growth in media leadership.

Gulf Journalists Union President and Bahrain Journalists Association Chairman Isa Al-Shaiji praised Kuwait for hosting the event. He said it confirms the country’s status as a beacon of Arab culture and journalism. He also highlighted the need for greater cooperation among Gulf media institutions to respond to global transformations in journalism.

Kuwait Journalists Association Chairman and Union board member Adnan Al-Rashed reaffirmed the country’s leading role in regional media. He announced that the 5th GCC Women Journalists Forum in 2026 will also take place in Kuwait, continuing the focus on empowering women in media.

The forum included a session on “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Gulf Journalism” and a closed dialogue with the Information Ministry’s strategy team. Tomorrow’s program will feature a special session for women leaders, further emphasizing the empowerment of women in media.

Overall, the 4th GCC Women Journalists Forum reinforced Kuwait’s dedication to media innovation, cultural leadership, and the development of future female media professionals. The event demonstrates that Gulf women are pivotal in shaping the future of journalism.
