Kuwait Haze Phenomenon Disrupts Daily Life and Reduces Visibility

Kuwait is currently grappling with a significant haze phenomenon. This weather event drastically reduces horizontal visibility. Furthermore, it severely disrupts outdoor activities. The Kuwait Meteorological Center issued a detailed warning. Acting Director Dhirar Al-Ali explained the phenomenon to KUNA. He stated that haze consists of suspended fine dust and particles. These particles include fine sand, pollen, and eroded minerals. The haze typically appears as a brown or gray blanket. It often resembles a light fog but is fundamentally different.

Importantly, the haze phenomenon occurs very frequently. It happens on more than 290 days each year. The months of May and July are particularly affected. Several factors contribute to this issue. Strong winds and dry conditions are primary natural causes. Additionally, human activities like construction play a major role. These activities kick up large amounts of dust and particulate matter.

Moreover, this haze poses a serious health risk. It contains high concentrations of fine particles. These are known as PM10 and PM2.5. They can penetrate deep into the lungs. Consequently, emergency cases among asthma and allergy patients increase. The public must take precautions to stay safe.

Authorities are strongly advising specific measures. People should stay indoors whenever possible. If going outside is necessary, wearing an N95 mask is crucial. Everyone should also follow official weather updates closely. The Meteorological Center is actively working on solutions. They are enhancing their early warning systems. They are also coordinating with other agencies. Their goal is to ensure public safety during these events.

In conclusion, the haze phenomenon is a major challenge for Kuwait. It affects visibility, health, and daily life. Staying informed and taking protective actions is essential for everyone.
