Kuwait Gears Up for Expo 2025 Osaka, Highlighting Rich History and Traditions

Kuwait is set to make a significant impact at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, showcasing its rich history, culture, and traditions. Minister of Information and Culture, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, made this announcement on Saturday during his meeting in Tokyo with Japan’s Minister for the World Expo 2025, Yoshikata Ito.

Minister Al-Mutairi, who also serves as the State Minister for Youth Affairs, discussed the preparations for Kuwait’s participation in the global event, which will take place in April. He emphasized that Kuwait’s involvement in this Expo is a continuation of its participation in the Osaka Expo of 1970. This year marks 55 years since that first participation, coinciding with over 60 years of diplomatic ties and cooperation between Kuwait and Japan.

Al-Mutairi expressed that the success of Japan in hosting this grand event would be considered a success for Kuwait as well. He highlighted that Kuwait was the first Arab country and the eighth country globally to sign the Expo participation contract, underscoring the importance Kuwait places on the event. As part of these efforts, the Kuwaiti pavilion is expected to play a central role in showcasing the country’s achievements and cultural heritage.

In a gesture reflecting the strong bilateral relations between the two nations, Al-Mutairi revealed Kuwait’s pavilion during a press conference in Japan. He also commended the Kuwaiti embassy in Japan for its tireless support in facilitating visits by Kuwaiti delegations to the pavilion, ensuring smooth preparations for the Expo.

During his visit to Japan, Al-Mutairi took time to personally oversee the progress of the Kuwaiti pavilion’s construction, ensuring it meets the highest international standards. His involvement in the process is a reflection of Kuwait’s commitment to making its participation a success.

On his part, Minister Yoshikata Ito praised the unique and impressive design of Kuwait’s pavilion. He expressed confidence that it would attract and captivate visitors at the Expo. Ito also emphasized the significance of Expo Osaka in further connecting Japan with the world, fostering stronger international ties.

Ito also acknowledged Kuwait’s enduring humanitarian support to Japan, particularly during the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. He expressed deep gratitude for Kuwait’s assistance, emphasizing that the gesture would forever remain in the hearts of the Japanese people.

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Japan, Sami Al-Zamanan, also played a crucial role in ensuring the success of Kuwait’s Expo participation. He organized a meeting for Arab ambassadors in Tokyo, in collaboration with Japan’s Foreign Ministry and the Expo organizing committee, to coordinate Arab involvement and to show support for Japan’s efforts. Al-Zamanan assured that the Kuwaiti embassy would continue to work diligently to ensure Kuwait’s success at the Expo.

With the collaborative efforts of both Kuwaiti and Japanese officials, Kuwait is poised for a prominent and successful participation in Expo 2025 Osaka.
