Kuwait has officially updated its electronic visa (eVisa) system, expanding eligibility to a wider range of expatriates residing in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The decision is part of a broader strategy to modernize immigration procedures while preserving national security and regulatory controls.
The updated policy now allows more qualified GCC-based residents to apply for entry into Kuwait using the simplified eVisa platform. This initiative reflects the country’s push to enhance digital services and streamline entry procedures for regional visitors.
However, Kuwait continues to enforce strict eligibility guidelines. Citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, and Yemen remain excluded from the eVisa program. Individuals from these countries must still apply through traditional in-person channels at Kuwaiti embassies or consulates in their country of residence.
Kuwaiti authorities emphasized that the changes aim to strike a balance between accessibility and maintaining robust security protocols. By limiting eVisa access to certain nationalities, Kuwait hopes to prevent potential misuse while encouraging compliant travel.
The expanded access to the eVisa platform is expected to benefit professionals, business travelers, and tourists from across the GCC, making travel to Kuwait more efficient and digitally driven.
This eVisa policy reform forms part of Kuwait’s wider effort to improve border services and integrate more advanced technologies into public systems.
