Kuwait and Portugal Strengthen Economic Ties with Upcoming Business Delegation Visit

Kuwait’s Ambassador to Portugal, Hamad Al-Hazeem, announced that a delegation of Portuguese business leaders and company owners will visit Kuwait from February 18 to 21 to boost economic, investment, and trade relations between the two nations.

Ambassador Al-Hazeem explained that the visit was organized by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lisbon in collaboration with the Arab-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, the Portuguese Industries Federation, and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He noted that the visit is a significant step in enhancing bilateral economic and trade ties and reflects the mutual desire to activate cooperation. The delegation’s visit will also highlight Kuwait’s major development projects and achievements across various sectors.

Ambassador Al-Hazeem emphasized that the initiative is in line with the core mission of the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission and credited Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for supporting efforts to strengthen Kuwaiti-Portuguese relations.

Dr. Luis Philipe Menezes, President of the Arab-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, shared that the visit would feature business meetings with the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce and Industry, local businessmen, and government authorities. The delegation will consist of over 12 companies from a wide range of sectors, including civil construction, cybersecurity, tourism, security services, and legal consultations.

Dr. Menezes highlighted that the visit represents a significant step towards further solidifying economic, trade, and cultural ties between the two countries. He also commended Ambassador Al-Hazeem’s efforts in fostering deeper bilateral cooperation.

This visit comes as Kuwait and Portugal celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. In 2023, Kuwait hosted the first round of Kuwaiti-Portuguese political consultations to further strengthen their partnership in various fields.
