Iraqi Football Transfer Surge Powers Ambitions Ahead of New Season

The Iraqi football transfer surge continues to reshape club rosters as the new season approaches. Across the country, teams are pushing hard to complete high-impact signings and strengthen their squads.

Newly promoted Al-Gharraf made a strong statement. They signed Tunisian defender Wael Ben Othman from Newroz on a one-year contract. Soon after, midfielder Alaa Al-Din Al-Boualaqi joined them on a free transfer from Tunisia’s CA Bizertin.

Meanwhile, Al-Karma added promising Iraqi player Omar Mahbas, widely known as Amroush, from Al-Joulan. In another big move, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya brought in international goalkeeper Mohammed Saleh from Duhok. They also re-signed Ramadan Siddiq, known as Seebo, on a one-year deal.

In international developments, Mustafa Saadoun, a key player for Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Iraq’s national team, received a lucrative $1 million offer from Belgium’s KAA Gent. The Belgian club has a strong presence in both local and European competitions.

Elsewhere, Zakho entered final talks with two standout players—Mohannad Ali, the league’s top scorer from Al-Shorta, and Osama Rashid, who last played for Erbil. These deals are nearing completion and could change the team’s fortunes.

Duhok is also moving quickly. They are negotiating with Mohammed Hassan to guard the goal after Saleh’s departure. In parallel, defending champions Al-Shorta are working to sign Jordanian international Hussam Abu Al-Dahab, a key figure in his national defense lineup.

All these moves underscore the pace and purpose of the Iraqi football transfer surge. Clubs are not only patching holes but investing in experienced talent to compete at higher levels.

This surge reflects a new era in Iraqi football. Fans, excited by every announcement, expect fierce rivalries and top-quality performances. If the Iraqi football transfer surge continues, the league could reach unprecedented levels of competitiveness and global attention.

Clearly, the strategy behind each signing goes beyond short-term fixes. Clubs now aim to build legacy teams. As the season opener draws closer, all eyes remain on the transfer market.
