Iraq Resumes Umrah Flights

Iraq resumes Umrah flights  ending a temporary suspension that affected thousands of pilgrims. The pause occurred due to the anniversary of Imam Hussein’s death and high pressure at the airports. The resumption of voos da Umrah aims to ensure that all pilgrims return safely.

The Iraqi Ministry of Transport reported that different types of aircraft will be used as the number of travelers increases. Additionally, the plan aims to gradually increase Umrah flights without compromising services and facilities for pilgrims. This thorough plan for voos da Umrah underlines the government’s commitment to smooth operations.

For over a week, about 2,000 Iraqi citizens remained stranded in Saudi Arabia due to a lack of available aircraft. This situation prompted urgent adjustments to the flight schedule and logistical measures to prevent future delays in services.

The Hajj and Umrah Directorate of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced a temporary suspension last week. The 40th mourning pilgrimage of Imam Hussein increased demand and strained air routes, so the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority halted flights.

This situation caused a temporary halt in voos da Umrah. Land flights continued normally, but air travel resumed only after resolving the situation and returning all stranded citizens. The Kurdistan Regional Government confirmed that all pilgrims would receive full assistance during their journey back, easing the resumption of voos da Umrah.

Iraqi Airways will ensure that pilgrims receive proper support and return to their destinations without issues. The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority said it remains available to solve any additional problems that may arise. With the resumption, voos da Umrah will operate at all airports across the country, including the Kurdistan region.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to a safe and organized experience for all Iraqi pilgrims. Transport experts say the gradual return of voos da Umrah balances logistics, safety, and comfort for citizens.
