Iraqi tourists again led all Arab nations visiting Turkey in 2025. Official Turkish ministry data confirms this continued tourism influx. Over one million Iraqi citizens traveled there last year. This figure represents a significant increase over 2024 numbers. Consequently, Iraq retained its top position for a third consecutive year. Saudi Arabia followed distantly as the second largest source. Algeria and Jordan also contributed substantial visitor numbers.
Specifically, 1,031,257 Iraqi tourists entered Turkey. This marked a solid 6.44 percent annual growth rate. December alone attracted seventy-four thousand Iraqi visitors. The tourism influx remained strong throughout all twelve months. Saudi Arabia sent approximately 921,000 visitors in comparison. Algeria contributed 343,000 travelers during the same period. Jordanian tourists numbered about 281,000 for the year.
Turkish officials explained several reasons for this popularity. Geographic proximity is a major factor for Iraqi travelers. Easier travel measures also facilitate these frequent trips. Deep historical and cultural connections provide another strong draw. These elements combine to make Turkey a preferred destination. The consistent tourism influx provides major economic benefits. Turkey’s tourism revenue reached 65.23 billion dollars overall.
This total revenue grew 6.8 percent from the previous year. The final quarter saw an even stronger performance. Fourth-quarter revenue jumped 9.9 percent year-over-year. Tourism therefore remains a vital sector for the Turkish economy. The steady stream of Arab visitors supports this growth. Iraqi tourists clearly form a cornerstone of this market. Their continued preference signals stable bilateral people-to-people ties. This trend will likely continue into the next year.
