Iraq Joins Global Leaders at Sharm el-Sheikh Summit for Gaza Peace Efforts

Iraq confirmed its participation in the Gaza peace summit held in Egypt’s coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh. Moreover, the event brings world leaders together to address the Gaza crisis. It also seeks to promote Middle East stability.

On Monday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh. He will represent Iraq at the Gaza peace summit. This visit highlights Iraq’s commitment to regional diplomacy. It also shows Iraq’s efforts to support peace and cooperation.

The summit is hosted by Egypt and the United States. It aims to create a unified plan to end the conflict. In addition, the meeting focuses on humanitarian relief for civilians in Gaza. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump co-chair the summit.

More than 20 global leaders joined the talks. Attendees include French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Jordanian King Abdullah II. Furthermore, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa attended.

Also present are Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. European Council President Antonio Costa, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni joined as well.

The summit focuses on reaching an immediate ceasefire. Leaders also plan strategies for long-term stability. Meanwhile, they discuss humanitarian aid, reconstruction plans, and steps to prevent further escalation.

Egypt hopes the summit strengthens diplomatic coordination. Similarly, the United States aims to advance a broader peace vision. This vision ensures security and coexistence for all sides.

Iraq sees this meeting as a key step in regional dialogue. Consequently, Baghdad emphasizes balanced diplomacy. It also calls for shared responsibility in resolving Middle East conflicts.

Moreover, Iraq believes peace in Gaza can open new paths for cooperation. Its participation shows strong regional engagement. It also demonstrates Iraq’s commitment to Arab solidarity.
