HMC Hosts 6th Qatar International Internal Medicine Conference

Doha—The General Internal Medicine (GIM) team at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently organized the 6th Qatar International Internal Medicine Conference. It was held from January 30 to February 1 at the Sheraton Grand Doha & Convention Hotel.

The event aimed to provide a high-level scientific platform focused on key topics in internal medicine and its subspecialties. It aligns with HMC’s commitment to excellence in patient care.

The conference featured plenary lectures by renowned experts and specialized symposia on internal medicine topics. It also included hands-on workshops, such as Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) training sessions. Attendees participated in “Meet the Expert” sessions, facilitating direct engagement with leading medical professionals from around the world.

With an impressive turnout of 1,406 participants—870 attending in person and 536 joining online—the event provided a valuable opportunity for global collaboration. Attendees hailed from countries such as Qatar, Australia, Austria, India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK, Oman, and the Philippines.

“The 6th Qatar International Internal Medicine Conference served as a key platform for knowledge-sharing. It allowed professionals to advance their expertise in internal medicine,” said Abdel-Naser Elzouki, Chief of General Internal Medicine at Hamad General Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Qatar University. “Our goal is to foster collaboration and elevate patient care standards across the region.”

Dr. Ahmed Al Mohammed, Chairman of the Medicine Department at HMC, highlighted the significance of professional development, stating, “By bringing together healthcare professionals, this conference inspires the implementation of new strategies. These practices and strategies enhance patient care quality.”

Dr. Elzouki emphasized the importance of continuous education. He added, “The insights gained from this event reinforce our commitment to medical innovation. They ensure our practices align with the latest research and patient needs.”

Dr. Mohammed reaffirmed the vital role of the Internal Medicine Department within HMC’s mission, stating, “Our dedication to providing comprehensive and specialized care reflects HMC’s vision of healthcare excellence. This conference showcased our progress and reaffirmed our commitment to raising patient care standards throughout the region.”
