Global Encounters Festival Begins in Dubai

Global Encounters Festival has officially begun in Dubai. This global event brings together young artists and athletes from over 50 countries. It celebrates creativity, sport, and social impact.

This year’s edition features more than 4,000 participants. Moreover, organizers expect over 25,000 visitors from around the world. Most events are being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Furthermore, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority extended services until 1 a.m. As a result, this ensures smooth transport for thousands of attendees.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the festival supports the UAE’s Year of Community 2025. Consequently, it promotes inclusion, innovation, and sustainability. In addition, government support includes backing from the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Sports, and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

The festival features two major programs. First is Jubilee Games, an 18-sport competition with global participation. Events include football, cricket, swimming, and basketball. Secondly, Jubilee Arts showcases film, media, live music, and visual arts. These events highlight emerging youth talent across many disciplines.

In addition, concerts headline the entertainment lineup. Artists such as Shreya Ghoshal, Salim-Sulaiman, and Shehzad Roy will perform. Moreover, visitors can also enjoy a global marketplace offering authentic foods, crafts, and cultural exhibits.

A major highlight is the Faanoos lantern, symbolizing shared values and global unity. Simultaneously, the Aga Khan Development Network also hosts an immersive exhibit on health, education, and climate resilience.

Sustainability is a key focus. The event uses electric rideshares, zero-waste venues, and local sourcing. Notably, participants are also involved in planting one million trees through the Roots for Change initiative.

Meanwhile, volunteers, numbering over 4,000, play a critical role in operations. Thus, the festival encourages leadership and cultural exchange among the youth.

Ultimately, Global Encounters shows how Dubai remains a vital hub for global gatherings. The festival blends tradition with innovation, therefore offering a platform for hope, dialogue, and transformation. In doing so, Dubai welcomes the world once again, proving its strength as a bridge between cultures.
